About Andy, Grant and Tori

Our careers as therapy dogs who specialize in reading education assistance began long before we were even born.  Mom was wrapping up her ten years on our local Board of Education and was acutely aware of the limited resources available within our schools. She had just read an article about children reading to a dog at a public library. Mom and Dad had two Golden Retrievers, and during a board meeting Mom caught herself thinking that her time might be better spent providing a resource in the schools. She shared that thought with Dad, and he loved it!  They immediately sought out training with Ginger and Nutmeg and the two went on to become registered therapy dogs and then reading education assistance dogs. Their work at the time was limited to evenings and weekends as both Mom and Dad were still working. In 2012 Mom retired and immediately reached out to the elementary school our human sister and brother had attended. She began working at the school with Ginger and Nutmeg a short time later, and the rest is history. To this day, we love working at the school.  We also provide a reading program to children at our local public library.
